Rajiv Gandhi [1944-1991]

“She was mother not only to me but to the whole nation. She served the Indian people to the last drop of her blood.” [In a tribute to his mother, Late Smt Indira Gandhi]

The quote itself speaks about the selfless attitude in my mentor, Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi. He continues to be an inspiration to me since childhood. As a child, when I studied about the Indian civics and rights, I often compared patriotism and constitutional values to Late Shri Rajiv Gandhi’s deeds. His words and his activities even today form a platform for the young leaders. He was the Prime Minister of India at the age of 40 and instrumental in the greatest victory of Congress in the Lok Sabha elections, with winning about 80 per cent of seats. As a Prime Minister too, Late Rajiv Gandhi made a valuable contribution in modernizing the Indian administration. With a vision in believing that information technology will in turn be the backbone of our nation’s economy in the 21 century, he worked actively to develop our country’s capacity in this realm. He has been one of the key players in promoting computers in India. His self less attitude and his true love for the motherland will be my path to reach my goals.
